Upcoming Programs & Events

Senior New Year’s Social

Join us Wednesday, January 26th from 6-8pm for our Senior New Year’s Social! There will be games, prizes, karaoke, an ice cream bar, and more. No registration required, and the event is FREE for seniors (ages 60+)! Come celebrate the new year, and give us your input on what “New Year’s Resolutions” we should make at the Senior Center.

January 2017 Programs:

Family History Class – Held in the Senior Center on Tuesdays at 12:40p.m. (right after lunch), starting Tuesday, January 3rd. Learn where you came from! Study your ancestors! Find your roots! This class will be taught by one of our very own seniors who has years of experience teaching family history. Class is FREE for members of the Senior Center. Those interested are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen; you may bring a laptop if desired (laptops are NOT required for the class! We will be discussing many aspects of family history; come the first day to see what the class will be like and decide if it is something you want to continue). Class will continue for the next few months until further noted. Contact Jessie to register! See flier here.

Meditation & Mindfulness Class – Meets Wednesdays at 1p.m. starting Wednesday, January 25th. The class will include at least five session meetings. Meditation is a process to learn to get in touch with your inner being to promote mindfulness. Come to the class to learn ways to increase your health and mental capacity through breathing practice and visualization. Gain control over your inner thoughts and feelings; learn to control distress.  Class is free for members of the Senior Center, and $5 for non-members. Class will be taught by a senior volunteer certified in Meditation Teaching. Limited space available in the class, call soon to register! See flier here.

Fall Prevention & Balance Workshop – Join us for an interactive presentation by Valeo Home Health & Hospice on Wednesday, January 25th from 2-3p.m. in the Senior Center. This workshop will include suggestions to improve safety in the home as well as exercises you can do to improve balance. About one third of the elder population over the age of 65 falls each year, and the risk of falls increases proportionately with age. At 80 years, over half of seniors fall annually. Let’s avoid accidents by educating ourselves on how to improve our balance! No registration required – just show up!

New Year Social – Come to our “New Year Social” on Thursday, January 26th from 6-8p.m. There will be entertainment, games, food, and fun! This is a great opportunity to meet other seniors in the area, learn more about the programs we offer here, and have a great time. More information (and a cute flier!) to come.

February 2017 Programs:

Trust and Wills Presentation – Eugene Till, professional Plan Master, will give us a presentation on the importance of trusts and wills. This presentation will be given on Thursday, February 16th at noon in the Senior Center. No registration required. More info to come.

Story Writing Workshop – Is there a story inside of you? One you want to share? Learn key story-telling elements, simple writing tips, and useful steps to organize a story that only you can share. Whether it be a fictional account or a personal life moment, author Tara C. Allred will provide a path in this interactive workshop to help you achieve your story writing goal. This workshop will occur Monday, February 13th at 10a.m. FREE for members of the Senior Center. Call Jessie to register! See flier here

Lunch Meals

January Meal Calendar

Lunches are served daily, Monday through Friday at 12:00 noon. Reservations for lunch need to be called into the Senior Center at 385.201.2350 by noon the previous day. Mountainland Association of Governments and the State of Utah provide the meals. Our facility caters to seniors from Lehi, Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, and Cedar Fort

The suggested donation amount for lunch meals is $3. Whether you can donate the full amount, more or less, please donate what you can by placing your donation in the box that is provided at the senior center.

An eligible senior will not be denied a meal because of their ability to make a donation.  In fact, some seniors cannot afford to make a donation.  When donations are made by those who can donate, it helps cover the cost of those who cannot; this keeps the program available for all participating seniors.

Facility Rentals

The Center is also available for rent for family parties at the cost of $50 per hour for Lehi City residents and $60 per hour for non-residents. Please call 801.768.7165 for more information.

DONATIONS

The Lehi Senior Center graciously accepts various donations from community businesses, services, and individuals. If you are interested in donating or getting involved in the services the Senior Center provides, please contact Jessie Jones at jjones@lehi-ut.gov or 385-201-2349.
