Youth Council

Our Purpose

The Lehi Youth Council is dedicated to providing leadership training and service opportunities for interested Lehi youth in grades 9-12. With a Youth Mayor, Youth Council Members, and Youth Council Committee, the members learn how our local government works and how to make positive changes in the community. The Youth Council helps the elected officials understand the needs of children and youth in the community and works with groups throughout the city to provide service and leadership opportunities. This is a great opportunity to participate and learn more about your local government, and have fun!

The members of the Youth Council attend a legislative session at the Utah State Capitol each January where they have the opportunity to meet our legislators and hear guest speakers. There is an annual convention of Youth Councils held each March at Utah State University in Logan where councils learn from and compete against each other. This 3-day event is full of training sessions, activity sessions, and even a dance. The youth members will help choose the activities and opportunities that they will participate in throughout the year.

A member of the Lehi Youth Council must:

  • Live in or attend school in Lehi City.
  • Be in grades 9-12 for 2019-2020 with citizenship in good standing.
  • Be willing and able to commit 2-3 hours a month for one year to the position.
