Citations

A citation, or ticket, is a charging document informing you that you have been charged with an offense by Lehi City.

State law mandates that a defendant must contact the court no less than 5 or more than 14 days after receiving the citation. If you fail to contact the court, a late fee will be added to your fine, a warrant may be issued for your arrest, and your license may be suspended until you appear in court.

Traffic CITATIONS

When you get a traffic ticket that does not require a court appearance, you can:

  • Pay the fine (pleading guilty, points may go on your record). To pay the fine, call (385) 201-1090, or pay online
  • Go to court (appear before a judge). If you wish to contest the charge, or your violation requires a court appearance, contact the court to schedule a court date.
  • Register for a Plea in Abeyance and take Traffic School. The Plea in Abeyance with Lehi City is a way to keep points off your driving record if you qualify and follow the rules and keep your record clean for 6 months
  • Join Deferred Traffic Prosecution (DTP) (program with UtCourts that let’s you keep points off your driving record if you qualify and follow the rules and keep your record clean for one year).

MANDATORY COURT APPEARANCE

If your violation requires a court appearance, contact the court to schedule a court date. (385) 201-1090. Additional information can be found HERE

NO INSURANCE/DRIVER’S LICENSE CITATIONS

For proof of insurance the court requires more than just your insurance certificate.  You will need to get a Proof of Coverage letter from your insurance agent, on company letterhead, indicating that you have insurance, and the effective dates of the policy.
