Events Hosted at the Legacy Center. 123 North Center, Lehi 5k Walk/Run |
| The Rotary Club of Lehi and Rippy Literacy Center are once again hosting a premier family event. The event is a fundraiser for the Literacy Center and the Club.
The Lehi-Rippy Literacy Center had its humble beginnings in July of 1998 in a one-room location generously provided by the city at the request of the center’s founder, Hesther Rippy. The Center is currently housed in the city library building, and its tutors and students benefit from the use of forty-one computers, along with Lexia educational software and phonics-based sequentially-written readers, which provide the structural underpinnings for our reading program. The award winning Rippy Literacy Center provides free year-round tutoring in a number of different subjects and levels including math, reading, and English. Some of the awards the center has been given are: Recognition of Outstanding Efforts’ Awarded to Bill and Hesther Rippy by the Utah Coalition on Families in conjunction with the Rippy Family Literacy Center; Community Award – Awarded to Lehi City on behalf of the LFLC By Lt. Gov. Olene Walker; Presidential Awards’ Individual bronze, silver, and gold awarded to Lehi youth and adults for outstanding performance and service toward literacy with Gold awarded to the Center. The Rotary Club of Lehi supports many programs throughout the year. Some of our programs are the Dictionary Project, Sub-for-Santa, Rotary Park, High School Scholarships, High School Leadership Training, Interact Club, Venturing Crew, Tiger Cub Den and many International Humanitarian projects. Please come out and support this event and help us make a difference in the lives of others. |

Ultimate Makeover
Basketball Court Reading Area
The new Lehi Rippy Literacy Center is totally HOT! During the past year, the NBA and To
yota gave the Literacy Center a $65,000 grant for a total makeover. They refurbished the Center with a basketball court for reading (complete with basketball bean bags chairs), new carpet, paint, games and even new computers. It is a sight to behold and an inviting place for learning!
We hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony with NBA players and a host of dignitaries. With the players towering above the students who looked in awe, Hesther Rippy, along with a host of others, cut the ribbon to launch a new era in learning and a wonderful partnership. The players read to students, played games and gave inspiration to an admiring audience. An author, Kevin Carroll, read to students and distributed copies of his book, Rules of the Red Rubber Ball.
We are very grateful for this generous support for our Literacy Center. We are always in need of tutors and know the blessings of making a difference in the life of another. Come join us and know the joy of service one-on-one!
The Future
We are excited about our future at the Rippy Family Literacy Center. It has been our privilege to work with dedicated groups and individuals. In addition to our associations with local schools and universities, we anticipate future associations in literacy with various groups and organizations. Indeed, such success continues to be found through the efforts of individuals working together for the cause of literacy among all.
