Spring 2023 Rain Barrel Program

Order your rain barrel today at http://www.rainbarrelprogram.org/urc. The sale window will remain open until April 30, 2023, at 11pm.

We are excited to announce that Lehi is partnering with the Utah Rivers Council to bring our residents a limited number of heavily discounted American-made rain barrels as part of this RainHarvest program. We are excited to bring this fun and successful program to our residents.

RainHarvest is a program that distributes rain barrels to Utah residents for the purpose of collecting rainwater that falls on rooftops for later use on lawns and gardens. This program offers residents the opportunity to affordably conserve water through rainwater collection. By purchasing these heavily discounted rain barrels, Utahns can reduce municipal water demand and improve the water quality of local streams, rivers, and lakes, by decreasing polluted runoff. For questions regarding the rain barrel program, please email Todd Munjer at tjmunger@lehi-ut.gov

Why collect rainwater?

Rainwater harvesting is legal in Utah, and with ongoing extreme drought conditions, there has never been a better time to start collecting your own water. Not only does rain harvesting reduce demand on municipal water systems, it also reduces the amount of pollution that enters the Great Salt Lake and local rivers from urban runoff during storm events.

How do I collect rainwater?

During storm events, the rain that falls on rooftops flows through rain gutters and downspouts and can be collected by rain barrels. Made in the U.S. of 100% recycled plastic, not only are 50-gallon Ivy Rain Barrels an eco-conscious option for rainwater collecting, they are user-friendly and one of the most popular options for rainwater collecting across the country. They come with a locking lid, a mosquito screen, a 3/4” valve that can be connected to a garden hose and linking capability to connect multiple barrels together.

When can I purchase a rain barrel?

Starting on March 14th at 12pm, residents of Lehi are invited to order these $55 rain barrels (limit of 1 subsidized barrel per household) at http://www.rainbarrelprogram.org/urc, while supplies last. There are a limited number of $55 barrels so place your order today! Once the subsidized barrels run out, $83 rain barrels are available for purchase by any member of the public. The sale window will remain open until late April, 2023. The barrels will be distributed at a one-day, in-person, event in mid-May. Rain barrels will not be shipped to residents.

Please note, purchasing a barrel is a two-step process. The first step is to enter your address into the above URL which will then be verified to ensure you are eligible for a subsidized barrel from Lehi. Then you will be redirected to a page where you will receive a discount code. The second step is to enter this discount code into the purchasing website and finalize your barrel purchase. It is important to note that receiving a discount code is *not* confirmation of a purchase.

Lehi City pickup will be Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 4pm-8pm. Place your order today at http://www.rainbarrelprogram.org/urc
