Volunteers

Literacy Center volunteers come twice a week for one hour, either Monday/Wednesday OR Tuesday/Thursday.  Volunteer times during the school year are at 3 pm, 4 pm, or 5 pm, and in the summer 9 am, 10 am, 11 am and 12 noon. Each volunteer is placed with a teacher and assists in helping students in either reading or math. Youth (7th grade)  through adults are always welcome to volunteer.

Spring Session 2024 (March 4, 2024 – May 9, 2024)

** Volunteer background checks are good for one calendar year. If you volunteered in the Summer, Fall or Winter of 2023 and completed the background check process, do not fill out a new registration form just call or email the Literacy Center to let us know the days and times you would like to volunteer.   • ABC Program:  9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (2 hours)
  • After-School Program:  3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m. (45 minutes)

The President’s Volunteer Service Award is an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and is administered by Points of Light. With a shared mission of inspiring more to answer the call to service, PVSA celebrates the impact we can all make in bettering our communities and our world. The Literacy Center benefits from the generosity of those that donate their time by volunteering at the Center.

We are so grateful for Quentin and Julian’s willingness to serve our community and love having them at the Lehi Literacy Center. WAY TO GO!

We honor those volunteers in our community who have earned the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Lifetime Awards.
The Literacy Center benefits from the generosity of those that donate their time. Come to earn the National “Presidential Volunteer Service Award” by volunteering at the Center. Scouts, families, organizations, and businesses are always welcome. Be sure to include your volunteer activities on your scholarship and employment applications, and resumes.

Volunteer service performed outside of the Literacy Center in the community may also be used towards the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

Volunteer Eligibility 

  • United States citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States (i.e., green card holder)
  • Must be at least 5 years old
  • Must be associated with a registered certifying organization
  • Completes eligible  service within a 12-month period (for annual Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards) and over a lifetime (for Lifetime Achievement Awards)

Eligible Service

  • Unpaid acts of volunteer service benefiting others.  Service through National service programs that provide a stipend (e.g., Peace Corps, America Corps) may count towards the Lifetime Achievement Award, but not for the annual Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards.
  • Travel stipends, transit/parking passes, membership passes, expense reimbursements, and other nominal volunteer support do not impact service eligibility. 
  • 25% of total hours served per year must be served at the Literacy Center which is a Certifying Organization.

Eligible Service Does Not Include

  • Donating Funds
  • Political Lobbying (Non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)
  • Religious Instruction
  • Conducting worship service
  • Proselytizing
  • Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service
  • Serving only family members

To submit outside service hours to be considered for the 2022 service period, please use the online form below.  All submitted service hours must be within the calendar year and verified/approved by the certifying organization.
