SAGE

Set A Good Example is a mandatory sportsmanship program required for parents who sign their children up in any of our Youth Sport programs. Once you take our 20 minute online class you can print a card that will be valid for the period of one year, at which time you will need to retake the class. The card that you are issued will have a unique number on it that will be required prior to registration. Those that fail to participate in the class will not be allowed to sign their youth up for any future leagues until they have attended. Classes are available online or at one of the kiosks located in our front lobby. You can view the video and answer a few questions from the comfort of your home. Click here to go to SAGE online.

Rain Out Hotline
Lehi Recreation Rain-Out Policy
July 2009

Ø      Rain-outs are called when the condition of the playing fields become unplayable or dangerous and not just necessarily because of inclement weather.  Weather from a previous day can cause fields to be unplayable.

Ø      When inclement weather is present but the playing surfaces are still playable and not dangerous, games will be played. It is not unreasonable to expect games to be played during rain, snow, or cold as long as playing conditions are safe for that sport.

Ø      Rain-outs will vary from sport-to-sport depending on the varying playing surfaces. For example, a baseball or softball game might be called long before a soccer or flag football game would be called because of the dirt infields versus the grass playing fields.

Ø      The rain-out hotline will be updated no later than one hour prior to the start of the first game that day.   The recreation sports staff will try to update the hotline as soon as bad weather is present even if games have not been cancelled. This way, patrons know we are watching the weather and they will know what time to call back for a final decision.

Ø      Once we are inside of the one hour window prior to the start of the first game, the rain-out hotline will not be changed. Any decisions after that time will be made at the field, and patrons will need to go to the field to learn of any changes. It is possible to have a game rain out one hour, and then the fields become playable for the next hour. Games can also be cancelled after they start, if conditions get worse.

Ø      If the rain-out hotline is updated, the sports staff will inform the front desk of the change.

3 Different Messages that the Rain-Out Hotline will say:

  1. If the Weather is Good and there appears to be no chance of games being cancelled:
    1. The hotline will have a message that says, “Today is (say today’s date). All games today will be played as scheduled. We only update this message when cancelling games becomes a possibility.”
  2. If the Weather is Questionable with the possibility of games being cancelled:
    1. The hotline will have a message that says, “Today is (say today’s date). All games today will be played as scheduled.   If fields become unplayable between now and (say the time one hour prior to the start of the first game), we will update this hotline. If games are cancelled after (say the time one hour prior to the start of the first game), this decision will be made down at the fields and will not be reflected on this hotline.”
  3. If the Games are Cancelled due to unplayable conditions:
    1. The hotline will have a message that says, “Today is (say today’s date). All games today are cancelled due unplayable conditions. You will be notified as to when the game will be rescheduled.”
