UDOT BREAKS GROUND FOR PIONEER CROSSING.
Pioneer crossing will take pressure off Lehi’s Main Street and will be a five to seven lane road (including a raised median) that will extend six miles eastward from Redwood Road, through Lehi at approximately 1000 South, ending at I-15’s Main Street interchange in American fork. The Pioneer Crossing project also includes reconfiguring the American Fork Main Street interchange into a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), a new configuration that UDOT managers say is safer, more efficient and less expensive than most existing interchange designs.
The first phase of Pioneer Crossing- five lanes from Redwood Road to Lehi’s 300 East and two lanes from 300 East to the American Fork Main Street interchange- will open this fall. The rest of the project, including the new interchange, will be completed in fall 2010.
